The evening college for the Tamil Isai Kalloori was established in January 1944 under the auspices of the Tamil Isai Sangam. A full fledged day college started functioning from the year 1995. Diploma courses were offered in Vocal, Veena Violin, Mridangam, Bharatanatyam, Nattuvangam, Nagaswaram, Tavil and Tevaram.
Under graduate degree courses were offered in Vocal and Veena from 2007 with the affiliation of Madras University. In 2011 Post graduate degree courses were also started with the affiliation of Madras University. From 2017, the college is under the Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University.
From 2016 onwards with the affiliation of Tanjavur Tamil University, courses in distance education and also M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Music are offered.
The special feature of this Kalloori is that there is no age bar for students. Anyone with interest and aptitude in music can join and benefit.
